End of Summer

~sigh~

I love our boat. I call it my Chill Pill. Really. All I have to do is be on that boat a half hour and I feel better about anything.

It's gonna be a looooong winter.

Ack!

Okay, so my little mop dog is prissy. She won't do her business in the yard unless she is walked, and I am not walking her on a leash in all kinds of weather at 6:30 in the morning before work. So I piddle pad trained her when she was young. We are lucky we have an elevated enclosed porch and have a place for an outdoor (sort of?) piddle pad area, she doesn't "go" in my house anywhere at all.

Anyhoo, Friday is garbage day. Thursday night I was changing out the piddle pad for a clean one. I neatly folded three corners in, then the fourth, folded it over again to avoid dropping anything... and there was a snake under the dang piddle pad! I acted all girly and screeched higher than any owl ever thought of screeching, about climbed up the side of my husband screeching "get it, just get it!" It was ALIVE, it slithered under a bench that had shoes under it, meanwhile I am on a chair screeching "get it get it!" He didn't know whether to laugh at me or what, I am still screeching just get the dang thing OFF my porch!! How the heck did it get five feet up on the porch anyway???

A cat. I have two hunter cats that like to bring me their presents. One of them must have brought that garter snake up earlier in the day and it slithered under the first thing it could. Oh I could have sworn it was five feet long, but more like a foot, and pretty skinny now that I think back on it.
And my husband was my hero, he got it off the porch and way way way into the woods!

Now I walk on the porch kicking at things to make sure no snakes, or rodents are hiding to surprise me again! This ol' ticker can't take too many of those surprises!
